Is This Class Right for Your Puppy?

This class is open to puppies who meet the following criteria:

• Under 6 months old at the start of the class.
• Have received at least their second round of vaccinations (proof is required).

What Your Puppy Will Learn:

This class focuses on building essential life skills and manners. We will cover:

• Clicker Training: Correctly introducing and using the clicker marker.
• Name Recognition: Building strong name awareness and response.
• Potty Training: Tips and techniques for house-training success.
• Handling & Grooming: Getting comfortable with being handled, brushed, and examined.
• Impulse Control: Learning “Take It” and “Leave It”.
• Focus & Attention: Building your puppy’s ability to focus on you.
• Basic Obedience: Foundational commands like Sit, Down (Lie), and Come.
• Managing Puppy Behaviors: Addressing common issues like mouthing/nipping and jumping up.
• Leash Skills: Introduction to polite leash walking.
• Place Training: Teaching your puppy to go to and relax on their mat/bed.
• Lure Following: Using lures effectively for training.
• Puppy Playtime: Supervised socialization and appropriate play skills.
• AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Test 

What You Need to Bring:

• First Class (Humans Only!):
  
  • A folding chair for your comfort.
  • IMPORTANT: Please DO NOT bring your puppy to the very first class session. This is an orientation for owners.
• All Subsequent Classes (Weeks 2-8):
  
  • Your Puppy! (on a flat buckle collar or harness and a 4-6 foot standard leash – no retractable leashes please)
  • A treat pouch for easy access.
  • Plenty of small, high-value treats your puppy loves.
  • A clicker.
